The Gateway to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor

One of the best ways to reach the Gateway of Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor is to take the Interstate 95 north to Augusta plus the route 3 heading to the coast in Maine. These roads are pretty good and easy to move on. There are Roving Vehicles and Trailer Homes on this road. You could also take an airplane going to this great place. It lands on an airport between Bar Harbor and Ellsworth. This is suitable if you have less time to travel and more funds.

In Bar Harbor you will discover a Village Green where local bands play in the breeze of the evening. You can listen to their music that attracts tourists and creates a homey environment. This place accommodates for all the fancies of tourists. These include great books like Sherman’s and others. Not to mention the museums in town which let you gain more knowledge about the area. It displays works of artists in storefronts which most are local. There are Antiques and boutiques everywhere on the road going to the Searsport.  Sport shops also offer camping equipments for campers which are nearby park campgrounds. There are Blackwoods that is around five miles south of town and the Seawall that is on the other side of the island.

Acadia National Park

This place has plentiful and diverse types of restaurants. These eateries vary from Sushi, Vegetarian restaurant, Pizza, burger places, Mexican, Thai and fine dining. There are even more places having dining rooms that sprawl out up to the sidewalks. Picnic benches are even available at the pier. These spots are suitable for bringing lobsters from a fine upscale restaurant.

There is a little place called the Opera House. Unfortunately, it was closed for dinner a few years ago. But the owners changed the business to an Internet Café. Now, this is a place where most seasonal employees would always spend their time and keep up with the happenings. This renovated café’ also offers coffee from 8:00 am until 11:00 pm and freshly baked goods.

Although summer is always hot in Bar Harbor, it is recommended that you bring your Sweat shirts and light jackets. The evenings could be colder than usual. Sometimes the Fog comes in and stays for a couple of times that you would not see the sun for days.

All in all, Bar Harbor and the Acadia National Park is an interesting place to spend your holidays and free time during school breaks and vacations. Do not miss the fun in stored for each and everyone.
